Casino Sued for Feng Shui Sabotage

In news of the bizarre, earlier this month A Taiwanese man who lost $2-million (about R16-million) in Las Vegas threatened to sue The Venetian Casino for using bad Feng Shui to cause his losing streak...

Mr Yuan alleged that the Venetian dug a one-metre square hole on the wall of the presidential suite he was staying in and covered it with a black cloth, staff then proceeded to place two white towels in front of his suite and turned on two large fans facing his room without notifying him.

In the complaint, Yuan claims that his luck turned bad upon discovering the developments surround his suite and he went from winning $400,000 to losing two million dollars and attributes this run of bad luck to Feng Shui sabotage employed by the casino.

Feng shui, or "wind and water", is an ancient Chinese practice which aims to channel good and bad psychic energy through architectural design and decorative arrangement. Furthermore, in Chinese tradition black and white cloths are draped only when there is a death in the family which is very bad feng shui indeed!

Yuan's complaint demands the cancellation of a two-million-dollar debt to the casino and in an attempt to allay his anger, The Venetian has promised to refund him $100,000 in cash and the same amount in chips, without explaining why it had agreed to this (could it be because Mr Yuan is a highroller and will be back after this whole storm has blown over?). The case is still pending an outcome.

Nevertheless, this is one strange story that I couldn't resist adding to our news section...and it just goes to show you that playing online is safer for the superstitious among us as no one can mess with our Feng Shui!
